Mica members have been fortunate to have had the use of a pit for primitive firing at the Booth Farm in Ukiah.
Pit firing is a wonderful, cooperative venture, a full day of loading and firing the kiln. The next day the pit is uncovered and even as the ashes are still smoking, the pots are uncovered.
Because of our hot summers and fire danger, firings are done in the early Spring.
